xmas eve was fun -- had dinner / supper at fisherman's village with groo + hall friends.. love the ambience there.. candlelit, right beside the sea with the cool breeze blowing.. would love to go back there again. haha guess what us bridge fanatics did? we promptly bought a $2 (!!!) pack of cards and started playing bridge there. old habits sure die hard man.. but am i complaining? =)

heh btw thanks so much groo.. i loved my xmas prezzies (well haha of course .. since i picked them myself) and i hope you love yours too.. even though we had to settle for 2nd best after walking round and round queensway looking for it in the colour that both of us like. sigh. still a little disappointed though... why can't they have it in a bigger size? grrr.. maybe i should start binding your feet to shrink them..

anyways. oceans 12 was boring... don't even know why i wanted to catch it though.. but thankfully meet the fockers saved the day. that movie is so damn fantastic! i loved it... yup.. so much that i'm gonna watch it AGAIn with char and fang on weds...

i realised i'm lazy and so are my friends.. maybe we kinda influence each other... nowadays in town we walk around for a while and then find an excuse to sit down and eat.. sit down and drink.. sit down and do whatever lah.. just as long as we sit down and chill and stone and talk can already. maybe age is really catching up with us. and after much pondering and contemplating and deliberating today, fang and i still can't recall what we (i.e. the rg ppl) used to talk about last time. we used to spend sooo much time in rg and jc just sitting at lido or wherever and talking and talking and talking but what on earth did we talk about? (besides fond memories of obs and australia and fang's smelliee toe socks) . i really have no clue.

lastly.. i have to announce that i officially LOVE sakae's green peas! it's the 1st vegetable that i can say i love... and you guys should have seen me today... happily popping peas and eating them (instead of sushi) with pea juice dribbling down my fingers. yummmm.... aren't you all proud of me? i'm becoming an omnivore at last....

xmas dinner + stayover and mahjong at ru's was fun! pity i couldn't have stayed longer though.. wish this doesn't have to be only a once-a-year thingy. ahaha and i can't believe i won money (ok la chips only) at mahjong! thought i'd lose almost everything coz it's been such a long while since i last played.

sigh i just realised i left the phantom of the opera dvd with ru... hey gal are u going town anytime soon? maybe i can meet u to get it back... lemme know ya?

-happy- coz groo created a player in his football manager arsenal team modelled after me!!! yay! "he's" called princess bibi, is french, born on 9 feb 1984 exactly like me and coz i kinda 'took over' thierry henry's place in the team, my ratings are SUPER super high.. a wonderkid in fact and yes i've been scoring lotss and lotss of goals for groooo ... yippppeeee

okie off to bathe after my run.. feeling good.. shld do this more often instead of lazing around and eating the entire day

life has never been more fabulous.. and i'm loving every single waking moment of it
so many things.. but no time to write about them all

the most amazing thing actually is that mum and dad allowed me to GO TO MALAYSIA WITH GROO! + other peeps too of course.. i wouldn't say friends coz silly guoyan didn't even know that his passport had already expired and was stopped at customs and made to go back home so yeap the remaining ppl i didn't know very well but it was fun! and now gy is dying to go back there so i can go 'overseas' with grooooo again! yayyayyayyay!

heh compare the relatively greater amount of freedom i have now as compared to sec school where i couldn't stay over anywhere and always had to be the first to leave.... and in jc when shuhui and i used to bitch and whine and complain to each other about the lack of freedom we had... happy now! just wish that i'll be given the green light to go china with groo's family this june.... sigh...

anyways yup... hols are greeaat =)

i just realised that i'm pessimistic... in a way.

i always think the worst about anything (esp results) so that even when the worst case scenario happens.. i can reassure myself about having foreseen and expected it in the 1st place... and anything better than that is a bonus. which will make me happy.

so maybe i'm not really a pessimist. i make myself pessimistic to enjoy the satisfaction and joy at the end. i like to think i'm an optimistic pessimist. =)

coz i think it's not worth carrying that buoyant optimism around in you for days, only to have it all come crashing down around you in the end. it's too emotionally traumatic...

perfect example:

i always marvel at how groo, while playing fm 2005, can still remain so optimistic at say, 80 mins into the game when his norwich team is 2-0 down. he hopes and believes that they can score 3 goals back... and more often than not, they miraculously do.
now that's a way of thinking that's foreign to me.

and last night's game. i know that in the dying minutes groo was fervently hoping that we could score the winning goal.. but i didn't even dare to hope for that. the only thing on my mind was that i'd be perfectly contented if we could prevent chelsea from scoring.. and thus scraping a draw.

so i wound up being contended despite all my initial pessimism.. that's why i'm an optimistic pessimist i guess...

it's been a long long time since i was awake and feeling bright and fresh at 7 am.. and i miss it so much!
no hint of sleepyness at all... when i got on the cab it was smelling so nice and fresh... the driver was friendly and cheery.. he had class 95 and the news on... and he even had a copy of the straits times on the front seat and asked me if i wanted to catch up with the news during the ride... ok maybe i'm easily impressed... but that is really excellent service!

yes so that totally made my day. made me feel that mornings can be so bright and fresh and wholesome if i want them to... as long as i'm not dragging my feet to school... oh well actually it just depends on my attitude.. whether i want to face mornings positively or not..
haha but then again i don't think i'll be awake at 7am again for a loong time to come!

today -- during the walk to groo's place we saw an old couple walking their dog. it was a lovely white poodle... but that's not the point.

me (pointing): doggie! doggie!
groo : groo hop on the dog!
me : no groo! scolding for you ah..
groo: abuse the dog!
me: ...
groo: pluck out all its feathers!

and i just couldn't stop laughing. and he still didn't see how hilarious and wrong his choice of vocab was.

sigh.
this is my groo...

groo and i watched alexander in one of those seedy empty old neighbourhood cinemas! the one at clementi.. ok it wasn't really THAT seedy compared to those chinatown ones.. it's actually quite clean.. no cockroaches running around... screen's large too... seats are comfortable... and coz there were so few ppl we could actually stretch out our legs and hang them over the seats in front. shiok.. and at $6 per person only!

but please please DO NOT watch alexander. it is LONG and DRAGGY and the storyline SUCKS. it's just a typical ancient battle kinda movie.. argh the theme's getting a little stale, especially after troy and king arthur.
but if you have money to spare please please DO catch saw. it's the most twisted horrifyingly sick but brilliant movie i've ever seen in my life. and gruesome too. it's absolutely worth every single cent of your $8.50.

went to changi airport (yay!) yesterday to pick groo's mum up and we had swensons there! loved the meal even though the food wasn't particularly great.. it just reminds me of the time when i was a kid.. where my parents would take us there for ice creams out of the blue.

night cycling later! -excited-

my cake craving which started last night has been satisfied at last.. weird.. i've never ever (as far as i can remember) craved sweet food. right. now i'm craving for salty oily food... which shall be satisfied later at marina south! =)
and one thing i realised is that if you start craving for cake in the middle of the night, there's absolutely NOwhere in singapore where you can buy a slice.. at least i can't think of anywhere at all.. unless you go all the way down to changi airport.

an overdose of poirot over the past few days has left me
- half adopting a british accent
- disgusted at the formal, polite, stiff way which people, especially the men there carried themselves at that time (1930s i think)
- absolutely disgusted at the fluttery twittery gushing meek ladies who go 'oh that's ab-so-lute-ly love-ly!' at everything they see. YUCKS.

oh but i so love the cutlery they used at that time... everything shiny, well-polished silver, with such intricate carvings on them. the dainty teacups, teapots, sugar jugs etc etc.. those are so lovely! i've made up my mind... i'm gonna use such cutlery in my house next time.

just packed all my notes. the amount of paper and stuff i've accumulated over the past sem is scary man. and i think of THIS amount of paper x 200++ ppl and i think oh my god.. the poor trees out there. then i think of all the kiasu lawyers who use up stacks of paper for each case and i think OH MAN.. it's the lawyers and law students out there who are contributing majorly to deforestation....
that's quite sad...
